Mother Teresa was born on 26th August, 1910. She was an Albanian by birth, but she made her choice to become an Indian citizen.
Early Life: She started her schooling at Albania. In 1928, she came to India and joined a convent school. She saw the poor condition of people living in slum areas. She felt deep compassion for the poor people. She decided to work for the well-being of the poor people.
Career: She established “Nirmal Hriday” at Kolkata to help the homeless.
Character and Personality: She was a simple and pious woman. She adopted a “white saree with blue border” as her dress code.
Awards: She was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1979, Bharat Ratna in 1980 for dedicating her life in for the service of suffering humanity.
