Put Committee Action Plans to Work

Committees are often the lifeblood of governmental organizations. But don’t assume they can operate in the dark. You can improve committee effectiveness by developing an “action plan.”

Tailor the plan to the particular objectives of each committee. While the exact nature of the plans will vary, some typical elements are:

The calendar should reflect dates for reviewing the committee’s progress. This will help the committee address problems and refocus on meeting the main goals.
